Bodegas Suau is a traditional Majorcan distillery that was founded around 1840 in Cuba by Joan Suau, a merchant marine who began with the production and marketing of rums and aniseed in the Caribbean. After one of his trips to Mallorca, he fell in love with a local girl and decided to bring the business to his native island in 1851, when he started making brandy. The winery is located in a historic building that is over 200 years old. Their star distillate is brandy, but they also continue to produce rum, gin and an orange brandy.
